A Six-Day Online ISTE-BNY Knowledge Enhancement Programme (FDP) on "Applied AI using Large Language Models for Education and Industry" was successfully conducted by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Vishnu Institute of Technology (Autonomous), Bhimavaram, from April 20 to April 25, 2026. The programme was sponsored by ISTE-BNY, convened by Dr. R. Srinivasa Raju, HoD-CSE, and coordinated by Dr. B. Sridevi, Associate Professor, CSE.
The FDP received an overwhelming response with more than 300 registrations from across India, out of which 50 participants were shortlisted based on the prescribed guidelines. Over the six days, a total of 18 sessions were conducted covering important topics such as applied AI using large language models, working principles and architecture of LLMs, prompt engineering, AI for teaching and content creation, AI for assessment and evaluation, AI for literature review and research writing, LLM-based applications, APIs and frameworks, real-world industry applications, hands-on application development, and responsible AI practices.
The sessions were delivered by eminent resource persons from premier institutions and industry, including Prof. M. H. M. Krishna Prasad (JNTUK), Dr. Sriparna Saha (IIT Patna), Dr. K. Hima Bindu (NIT Andhra Pradesh), Dr. Radhika Mamidi (IIIT Hyderabad), Dr. Sowmiya Rani, Dr. Prasad Maddula (SVECW), Mr. Prakash Hegade and Ms. V. Meenakshi (Annam.AI, IIT Ropar), Mr. Sai Chavali (LinkedIn), Mr. Bharat Kumar Bolla (Novartis), Mr. S. Mahaboob Hussain, Mrs. U. Padma Jyothi (VITB), and Mr. Ram Prudhvi Teja.
The programme witnessed active participation from faculty members, with a strong emphasis on interactive and hands-on learning. The valedictory session was graced by Prof. G. Ranga Janardhana, Chairman, ISTE AP, and Dr. T. S. S. Balaji, National Executive Member, ISTE-AP. The programme also received continuous support from Prof. Vijay D. Vaidya, ISTE-BNY Coordinator. Overall, the FDP was successfully completed with positive feedback from participants, highlighting its relevance and usefulness in enhancing faculty knowledge and skills in applying AI and LLMs in education and research.
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) organized a three-day research event, DOCATHON 4.0, from February 18-20, 2026. This "Work to Publication" initiative brought together 37 research teams, accompanied by faculty guides, to draft and refine their research papers.
The event was convened by Dr. R. Srinivasa Raju, Head of the Department, CSE.The Department R&D Coordinator, Dr. J. Janardhana Naidu, supported the research activities throughout the event.Mr. S. Mahaboob Hussain served as the resource person, sharing valuable insights and expertise on transforming project work into publishable research papers.
The Department of Computer Science & Engineering proudly celebrates a remarkable achievement as students of Vishnu Institute of Technology (Autonomous) secured WINNER (1st Place) at the National Grand Finale of the Amaravati Quantum Valley Hackathon, a prestigious national-level competition that witnessed participation from multiple states across India and attracted nearly 50,000 student innovators.
A proud highlight of this achievement was receiving recognition and interaction opportunity with the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, and a special invitation to witness the Laying stone ceremony of Amaravati Quantum valley at Amaravati marking a defining moment for the students and the institution.
The team had earlier demonstrated excellence by emerging as Winners in the Semifinals, organized by the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education at SRKR Engineering College, and continued their outstanding performance to achieve national success. Competing among 100 finalist teams across 10 national problem statements, the team’s journey reflects dedication, innovation, and strong technical expertise in quantum technologies.
The winning team comprised IV-year students – Korrapati Thirumala Narasimha Naidu, Pavan Maddula, Gottumukkala Dheeraj Varma, Soma Sekhar Pandu Ranga Raju, P Gowthami Tirumalareddy (III B.Tech), and Pujya Nigama Reddy (II B.Tech), whose collaborative efforts and technical excellence were instrumental in achieving this success. The team was mentored by Shaik Mahaboob Hussain, Assistant Professor, CSE, reflecting the department’s commitment to innovation, research excellence, and leadership in emerging technologies, particularly in quantum computing.
An expert talk on Quantum Information Technology using Photonics was delivered by Dr.Srinivas Talabattula, Professor, Department of Electrical Communication Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru to the students of various branches in the college on 16-03-2026.
During the session, he explained the emerging importance of quantum technologies and highlighted research opportunities in the field. He also emphasized the role of IEEE professional societies in academic and professional development and interacted with faculty members, sharing valuable insights on research directions in quantum technologies and the importance of active participation in professional societies.
We are proud to announce that a team from VITB secured victory in the Grand Finale of the Amaravati Quantum Valley Hackathon 2025 under Problem Statement AQVH919.
The team worked on “Quantum Path Planning for Delivery Vehicles” under the theme Logistics: Fleet Optimization. Ten teams were shortlisted for the grand finale (under AQVH919) after two levels of screening, and our VITB team emerged as the winners.
Computer Science and Engineering Department of VITB, in collaboration with NIT Andhra Pradesh (AP), organized a one-week Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Natural Language Processing with Deep Learning, from 05-05-2025 to 10-05-2025, under the aegis of the E&ICT Academy, NIT Warangal.
The FDP was inaugurated on 05-05-2025. The event was graced by Dr. P. Kishore Kumar, Principal Investigator, E&ICT Spoke, NIT AP, and Prof. P. Sreehari Rao, Chairman, E&ICT Academy, NIT Warangal (who joined virtually). Dr. M. Venu, Principal, VITB, set the context for the program, while FDP Coordinators -Dr. K. Himabindu (NIT AP) and Dr. R. Srinivasa Raju (VITB)- addressed the participants.
The sessions by eminent resource persons from NITs and other premier institutes provided deep insights into core NLP concepts, deep learning fundamentals, modern language models like Transformers, applications of large language models (LLMs), and aspects of AI security and explainability. The theoretical sessions were complemented by hands-on sessions to the participants providing a rich learning experience. The six-day FDP program was concluded with Valedictory session on 10-05-2025.
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a two-day workshop on "Fundamentals of Deep Learning" sponsored by NVIDIA between 30-Aug-2024 and 31-Aug-2024. This workshop was conducted for III B.Tech students from CSE, AI&DS, and AIML programs.
The workshop was led by Mrs. B. Sridevi, Assistant Professor of CSE, NVIDIA Ambassador, and Certified Instructor. The event was coordinated by Mr. S V A. Durga Prasad, Assistant Professor, CSE Dept. The workshop covered: Deep Learning Fundamentals, Neural Network Training, Convolutional Neural Networks, Data Augmentation and Deployment, Pretrained Models and Advanced Architectures.
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at our institution recently hosted the STEM EXPO Internal Hackathon, an exhilarating event that brought together 98 of our brightest minds across 20 innovative teams. Held on July 22, 2024, this hackathon showcased the exceptional creativity and cutting-edge technical skills of our students. Under the guidance of Dr. R. Srinivasa Raju, HOD of CSE, and coordinated by Mrs. B. Preethi, Assistant Professor, the event culminated in a inspiring valedictory session graced by our esteemed Principal, Dr. Venu Mangam. His motivational speech on innovation in today's rapidly evolving technological landscape left a lasting impact on all attendees.
The Department of CSE(AI&ML) conducted a One Week Workshop on "Business Intelligence with Tableau" during 24-28th June 2024. A Total of 144 Students participated in the workshop and gained knowledge on Tableau. Mr G Sandeep from Vedic acted as resource person for the workshop.
The Department of CSE & IT organized DevOps workshop for the III B.Tech students between 21-02-2024 and 26-02-2024. Mr.N Aditya Sundar, Operations Manager and Ms.V Hima Bindu, DevOps Engineer & Team Lead from CapGemini Technologies acted as resource persons.
The resource persons dived deep into the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and the intricacies of the AWS Cloud platform, exploring core services including EC2, IAM, and S3. The participants experienced hands-on learning as they worked through AWS Console, committing code, building, and deploying in a CI/CD pipeline.
The skill set of the participants is further enriched with insightful sessions on Jenkins, covering its architecture and installation process, and cutting-edge technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, and Ansible. Overall, the participants had a wonderful learning experience, through hands-on, from Industry experts.
Mrs. B Sridevi, Assistant Professor of CSE Department is certified as NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute (DLI) Instructor and also granted NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute (DLI) University Ambassadorship. DLI Ambassadors are a select group of DLI Certified Instructors committed to teach DLI instructor-led workshops at universities, academic conferences at no cost exclusively for academic students, staff, and researchers. Vishnu Institute of Technology offer training opportunities for research scholars and faculty members to catch up with the latest computing technologies with the support from NVIDIA DLI. Faculty members and students will also get free NVIDIA certification on "Fundamentals of Deep Learning".
The Departments of Computer Science Engineering and Information Technology of Vishnu Institute of Technology, Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh organized a webinar "Agile Methodologies" on 01-Aug-2020, for the II and III B.Tech CSE & IT Students. Mr. K Nagesh Babu, Scrum Master, Expeditors, Chennai acted as a resource person for the event. The philosophy behind Agile Methodologies, and differences among various software development methodologies were explained with real-time examples.

Vishnu Institute of Technology organized VISHNU INNOVATION SUMMIT 2018 to set up "Vishnu i 360 Innovation centre and Incubator 4.0" on 3rd and 4th March 2018 in the campus along with the partners INNOVATIONEXT and SAP for developing Intrapreneurs, Innovators and Entrepreneurs and to promote start-ups.
The program was the first of its kind where the top business conglomerates and MNCs like Tata Motors, Adhitya Vikram Birla group and L&T, Volkswagen and many other delegates from the Government, industry and academia participated.

On this occasion Shri K.V.Vishnu Raju, honorable Chairman SVES delivered the inaugural speech which was followed by a presentation by Shri Ravi Chandran Rajgopal. Earlier the welcome speech was given by Dr. D.Suryanarayana, Director and Principal, Vishnu Institute of Technology.
Mr. Prabhat Ranjan delivered the key note address on "Sharing Technology Vision 2015 and Future Directions". Later the delegates gave their presentations on different topics.
Department of Computer Science & Engineering organized 2 day workshop on Block Chain between 26th and 27th February, in association with APITA (JKC). Mr. Aman Sanduja, Co-Founder/CEO of "Towards Blockchain" is the resource person for this program. Students from II & III B.Tech CSE, IT & ECE participated in this program. The resource person gave an introduction to Block Chain Technology & explained how Block Chain Technology is used to create Bit Coin. He discussed various case studies explaining how Block Chain Technology could be used to give solution to real time problems.
Mr. S. Mahaboob Hussain, Assistant Professor, Department of CSE, is awarded "Research Excellence Award" in INDO-GLOBAL EDUCATION SUMMIT & EXPO 2017 on collaborations with foreign universities and student recruitment. This award recognises excellence in research for individuals deserving of special recognition by reason of their outstanding contributions to knowledge in any of various disciplines. It is a unique event which is being organised in India as a sequel to the highly successful Education Summits & Expos held since 2009.
