National Librarians' Day 2019 was celebrated on 12th August, 2019 commemorating the 127th birth anniversary of Padmashri Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the father of Library Science in India for the second time across all the institutions in the Bhimavaram campus of Sri Vishnu Educational Society.
Dr. D. Suryanarayana, Director and Principal, Vishnu Institute of Technology, delivered his valuable speech on this auspicious day. In his address Dr. D Surayanaraya highlighted the importance of libraries as excellent resources of knowledge and the need to utilize them effectively for acquiring knowledge. He also advised the students to form in clubs to utilize all library resources productively.
Dr. Y.M.V. Naga Raja Rao, Librarian, Vishnu Institute of Technology addressed the gathering and explained about the importance of Librarians' Day.
Along with the Librarians, Library Professionals and Library staff and several other invited dignitaries from different Institutions of the Campus participated in the celebration and encouraged the students with their words of inspiration.
The program commenced with lighting the lamp and offering floral tributes to Padmashri Dr. S. R. Ranganathan and our Founder Chairman Padmabhushan Dr. B.V. Raju garu. Different activities are conducted on the day like Reverse Reading, JAM and Group Discussion. Prizes were distributed to the winners of all events.
Finally, the program closed with the vote of thanks which was proposed by Dr. Y.M.V. Naga Raja Rao, Librarian of Vishnu Institute of Technology.
